Albert "Al" Earl Hughes

Visitation for Al will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles St) on Tuesday, October 3rd, from 5:00 -8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial park on Wednesday, October 4th, at 10:00 a.m.

Al was born May 29, 1952 in Bakersfield, California, to Odis and Hazel Hughes. He was the third of five children. In 1970 he married his first wife and hey had 2 sons. In 2006, until his passing, he was married to his wife Sharon. She made him a promise to always have his back and she did unitl the day he died. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Hazel and Odis Hughes; his sister, Verla Frazier and beloved nephew, Don Scroggins.

Left to mourn his passing are, wife Sharon Hughes of Bakersfield, California; sons, Chris Hughes (Carlyn) of Bakersfield and Mike Hughes (Melissa) of Tehachapi, California; stepson, Travis Henderson, of Bakersfield, California; Brother, Odis Hughes (Shirley) of Portland, Oregon; sister, Darla Hoeper (Greg) of Bakersfield, California; Sister, Anna Welch (Ronnie) Konowa, Oklahoma; grandchildren. Cody Hughes (Victoria) of Honolulu, Hawaii, Jeffery Hughes of Bakersfield, California, Riley and Braden Hughes of Tehachapi, California; great-grandchildren,Cora and Charlotte Hughes of Honolulu, Hawaii; mother and father-in-law, Laura and Melvin Peel, and nieces and nephews and friends.

Al loved spending time with Sharon in Pismo Beach, where they celebrated their anniversary. He loved fishing and golfing, and he participated in many bass tournaments. He loved riding his motorcycle and he was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He loved dumplings, porcupine meatballs and salmon patties.

He touched many lives throughout the years and he will be missed greatly. Until we meet again. We will love you with all our hearts and half our gizzards.
