Andrea Marmolejo Alvarado
July 11, 1935 - January 2, 2018
Andrea Alvarado passed away at the age of 82 with her family by her side. She is preceded in death by her parents Maria Gutierrez and Mariano Marmolejo; and is survived by her 7 of 11 brothers and sisters; her 4 children, Marie Salazar, Robert Joseph Alvarado Jr., passed in 2010; Alex Alvarado, passed in 2007; Kenneth Alvarado, 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Andrea's family were one the first few families that settled in Arvin, CA from Texas after the Dust Bowl from the 1930's. They survived the earthquake in 1952, fought through the Dust Storm of 1977 and formed one of the historic loving families (The Marmolejo's) in Kern County that has nowexpanded across the country. Andrea was a farm worker throughout Northern and Southern California and loved spending time with her brothers and sisters. Their charismatic reputation was formed through music and dance. She loved to swing dance to her favorite music from the 1940's, and dance away to her favorite songs of the 1950's. She would then become a babysitter for the next forty years; a care giver for families of many generations. Throughout these years she was known as "Gramma" to everyone.
Andrea's love for life was felt with just her beautiful smile. She loved to cook for family and friends. You would leave her home with a full stomach and a full hearted memory of laughter. She had a warm and welcoming spirit to all. She devoted her time to her family and friends and created relationships to last a lifetime. She was one of the strongest, faithfulness, courageous, caring, and loving human beings anyone could ever meet. Her sense of humor filled a room with happiness. Even when her presence was absent, her joyous echoes still surrounded us. She was an impeccable story teller. Her vivid memory and her collection of photo albums made everyone feel as though they were a part of something special. It was like using encyclopedias down memory lane. As a daughter, she was there to be trusted. As a sister, she was true to depend on. As a wife, she gave forgiveness. As a mother, she had unfailing faith to protect. As a friend, she gave a shoulder to lean on. And as a grandmother, she was the shining sun who gently consoled us through inspiring words along with compassion to fill our hearts with unconditional love and devotion.
Above all, Andrea's Loving soul measured to a celestial degree of forgiveness and longevity of how humanity was never lost in the eyes of a Saint, who served as an apostle for family and friends to accept lenity with her passing. She was devoted to her mother Lady Fatima and looked forward to her forever life in Heaven with her savior, Jesus Christ. Forever will she be the ultimate gift to us from God. Dios te bendiga.
The family wishes to thank Hoffman Hospice for their compassionate care of Andrea Alvarado "Gramma" during these past five months.
