ANDREW (SPUNKY) JACOBS III Andrew “Spunky” Jacobs III was born on December 14, 1956, to Andrew Jacobs, Jr., and the late Jewel Dine Jacobs. He was the youngest of three children and has two sisters, Joyce Ann Wilson and Paulette “Polly” Watkins. Andrew was born in El Paso, Texas when his father was in the Army, but the family relocated to Bakersfield, California where he was raised with his siblings. In addition to his parents and siblings, he was surrounded by the love of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He lived up to his nickname, Spunky, because he was fearless and bold. He was courageous and determined in any challenge he took on. He had a love for boxing, weightlifting, fashion, and fishing which he did with his father in his youth. He was a very good student in high school and his favorite subject was math. Andrew was blessed with his first baby girl Adrienne on June 17, 1974, whom he shared with Sarah Graham. He later married Mary Jo Young and had four more daughters, Latoya, Latasha, Tamra, and Tabitha. When his girls were younger, he would often tell them to say, “I’m tough,” when they faced adversity. He taught his girls to be fearless and bold, just like him. Family was everything for Andrew and in his last years, he spent his days doing everything he could to take care of them. He would often provide financial assistance to his loved ones and once said, “If I can’t help my family, this money means nothing.” Andrew is survived by his father Andrew Jr., his sister Joyce Wilson (Curtis), sister Paulette Watkins, daughters Adrienne Geathers (Alphonso), Tory Jacobs, Tasha Hawk (Bryan), Tamra Jacobs, Tabitha Thompson (Kenton), grandchildren Dontae Geathers, Keion Geathers, Jayden Geathers, Cameron Hawk, Brooke Hawk, Brianna Hawk, Olivia Hawk, and Christian Moss. He will also be missed by his niece Sheree Addison (Vincent) and nephews Curt Wilson (Lupe) and Brian Gilder in addition to great nieces and nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and friends. Andrew’s earthly journey came to an end on October 24, 2021, and although he will be missed beyond measure, his memory and legacy will live with all his loved ones for eternity.
