Annabelle Jones

March 28, 1937 — May 8, 2016

Annabelle Boswell Jones was born to Artie Otho and Minnie Ethel Boswell on March 28, 1937, in Carpentersville, Ind., and she passed away on Mother's Day, May 8, 2016, in Moreno Valley, Calif. She was preceded in death by her son, Randall Wayne Neeley (Jones). She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert Wayne Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Lloy Ann Howard and John Batchelor; son, John L. Basham Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Debi and Wilson Padilla; son and daughter-in-law, Eric Jones and Jennifer Bustamante; daughter-in-law, RuthAnn Basham; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and James Fisher; brother, Robert Boswell; grandchildren, Robert (Tracey) and Randy (Laurie) Kern, Sarah and Lyndsay Oatman, Devon (Bri), Paige and Dylan Basham, and Alexis Jones; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Gunnar, Cade and Cole Kern, and Miles and Lincoln Oatman; her furry buddy, Freddy, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Annabelle attended the local schools in Roachdale. In 1954, she married John L. Basham Sr. and in 1966, she met and married Robert "Bob" Jones. They would have celebrated 50 years of marriage in September. She owned and operated Anne's Café in Bainbridge, and she later worked as a waitress at the Y Palace, and as a cook at the Monon Grill in Greencastle. In 1968, she graduated from The House of James Beauty College in Indianapolis and she later managed and taught at the House of James Beauty College in Crawfordsville. In 1971, she and her family moved to Orange, Calif., where she taught at Flavio's Beauty College. Annabelle loved to cook and she never lost her "Indiana" cooking style. She was known for her homemade egg noodles, chocolate cake and pecan pie. She was an excellent seamstress and she sewed many dresses and outfits on a foot-pedal Singer. She crocheted afghans for all of her kids and grandchildren. She was an avid reader and was involved in the Moreno Valley Alano Club until her declining health prevented her from attending. She took pride in being a mom and nana. She sometimes worked two jobs so her kids would never "miss a meal." She always looked forward to having all of her kids and grandchildren at her home for birthdays and holidays. Annabelle was a loyal Los Angeles Lakers fan, and Earvin "Magic" Johnson and Kobe Bryant were her favorite players. She was loved by all that knew her and her death has left an empty space in our hearts. Annabelle had faith in The Blessed Hope and she is safe in the arms of Jesus.
