Aurora Torres Hernandez answered God's call into heaven on the afternoon of April 5, 2018. She was surrounded by her loving husband and family. She was born to Carlos and Esther Torres on July 11, 1943. The oldest of five children, she knew she needed to take the role as the protector, and at times, bossy older sister. She attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish School and later attended High School where she was Senior Class Secretary and graduated in 1961.
She went on to marry the love of her life, Clement Hernandez, on April 22, 1964. Throughout the years, they would welcome five children of their own into the world and raise them to become bold and strong in faith, as well as life. She was an avid reader who loved Spanish and Classical music. She also loved to travel with her husband and family by her side. Trips around the United States, Italy, Spain and Portugal were something she loved. Vacations with her grandchildren to Yosemite and the beach brought her joy.
As life went on, she endured challenging struggles. Aurora battled cancer three times over the course of ten years, and losing her daughter, Lydia, to cancer herself. Throughout these trials, she showed her phenomenal strength and endurance by her faith and trust in God, knowing, that He will get her through. She was and intelligent, beautiful, funny and courageously strong woman of God. Her time on this earth will never be forgotten.
Aurora is survived by her children, Debbie Chan (Bill), Charlie Hernandez, Elena Hernandez, Alicia Lopez (Jimmy); Siblings Alicia Reyes, Evangeline Calderon (Louis), and Carlos Torres (Monica). She leaves Behind 13 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is welcomed into heaven by her parents, Carlos and Esther, her daughter Lydia, and her sister Mary Ann.
Services will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Parish on April 16, 2018. Rosary will be held at 8:30 a.m. Mass services begin at 9:00 a.m. For further information please visit www.BashamFuneralCare.com
