Bertha Leona Tirce
Bertha was born to Rose and Henry Cort, in Los Angeles, California on September 20, 1915. She passed away on April 6, 2018. She is survived by her Husband of 77 years, Lee James Tirce, her Daughter Jan Blake, son-in-law Michael, Granddaughter Michelle Johnson and husband David, Grandson Philip Marcellin and wife Michelle and Great Granddaughters, Kiley Johnson, Sophia, Sascha, Greta and Ava Marcellin.
Bertha was an avid volunteer and spent many years as a member of the North of the River Woman's Club. She served as President and has many other leadership roles with the club. She was a member of the Sigma Alpha Sorority, Theta Theta Chapter. She loved and enjoyed being active in both groups. In addition, she provided instructions for the "Five Alive" seniors programs. She lived at Brookdale River Walk for 6 years and served as their Resident Ambassador for several years. In addition, she enjoyed bowling in various leagues for many years at Westchester Bowl.
On September 20, 2015, her 100th Birthday, Mayor Harvey Hall presented her with a proclamation recognizing it as "Bertha Tirce Day".
Her Family wishes to thank Phela and Daisy at Hoffman Hospice. Also, a special Thank you, to Magnus at Hoffman Hospice for his loving and comforting words and songs that he gave Bertha in her last few weeks.
There will be a "Celebration of Life" on June 16, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 12300 Reina Road.
