Billy Don Hunt

Gone Fishin' ..Bill Hunt is now casting his line in the peaceful waters of heaven.

Bill passed away peacefully June 15, 2016 at home after a brief battle with esophagus and liver cancer.

Bill was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Marvin Alton Hunt and Tressie Mae (Maxey) Hunt. Bill graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1957. After high school he started his apprenticeship in carpentry. He was drafted into the army August 16, 1961. After his honorable discharge August 1, 1963, he returned to Bill Ray's Cabinet Shop to finish his apprenticeship. He worked as a carpenter until he retired in 1999. He met his wife, Glenda-Foster Priest in 1998 and they were happily married for 17 years.

Bill loved to go fishing and camping with his children and grandchildren and we did so every year. He also loved to spend time with one of his best friends. Dwight Kennedy and brother , Clovis, shooting clay birds on Dwight's property in Caliente. He also helped his good friend Larry Tatman at Hart Park helping the under-privileged children with the fishing tournaments.

Bill is survived by his wife Glenda Hunt; Children: Philip W. Hunt (Ayla), Billy D. Hunt, Jr. (Jennifer), and daughter Pamela D. Reynolds (Troy); Stepchildren: Rick Priest (Heidi), Ronnie Priest (Kerry), Jeffrey Priest (Teresa), Melissa Tootle (Toby) and 26 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and brother, Clovis Hunt, sister Lavirne Ferguson (Clinton), Mary Williams and Gracie Bradshaw. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Tressie Hunt, brother Alton Hunt, and sisters Maxine Hunt and Glenna Moseley, and his step-son Jimmy Padgett.

A Service will beheld June 27th at Basham Funeral Home on Niles St. at 10:00 AM.
