Byron was born on February 13, 1966 and went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2020 after a long, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Byron was born in Oxnard, CA. His father served in the U.S. Air Force, so he traveled the world and lived in several places including Spain and Panama. He attended Balboa High School in Panama, then returned to California, where he graduated from Atwater High School in 1984. In 1986, Byron entered the Air Force and was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio Texas. He received an honorable discharge in January of 1990 and came to Bakersfield to be near his parents Horace and Jo Ann McDermott.
Byron was later employed by the U.S. Postal Service and worked at the Pegasus office as a mail handler until he was unable to work in July 2018.
Byron loved sports, silly commercials, old-school hip-hop music, Newport Beach, and more than anything, his daughters. He was baptized and came to love the Lord. His faith was very strong and was evident during his 1 1/2-year battle with cancer. He exhibited an unparalleled amount of strength up until his last breath.
Byron is preceded in death by his parents Jo Ann and Horace McDermott. He is survived by his family,Bobbi, his daughters Abryanna, Valencia, Trinity, Aniyah, Cierra, and Erica; grandchildren Charlie, Metta, and Phoenix.
Graveside services with full military honors, will be held at Bakersfield National Cemetery, 30338 E. Bear Mountain Blvd. Arvin, Ca 93203 on February 21, 2020 at 1:15 pm. Condolences may be left on Byron Rogers' online guest book at www.bashamfuneralcare.com
