Catherine Joyce Sangis

January 1, 1964-August 15, 2020 Catherine Joyce Sangis, 56, passed away on August 15, 2020 at home in Bakersfield, CA. She was born on January 1, 1964 in Basking Ridge, NJ to Sandor Charles and Sally-Joyce W Haydu. Catherine grew up in Basking Ridge, NJ. She graduated from Ranny School, Tinton Falls, NJ in 1982. After high school she attended the School of Education at Monmouth University West Long Branch, NJ where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education. She worked for various schools as a teacher in NJ, NE, and CA for about nine years. Catherine loved working in a one-room schoolhouse in NE. After teaching she raised two children and held volunteer positions at their schools. Catherine married Louis L Sangis Jr in 1986 in Barrington, IL. They were happily married for 34 years. Catherine was a Brownie, attended Summer Camps, belonged to Presbyterian Churches and various Education associations. She enjoyed spending time with her family, having dogs and cats as pets, nature, travel, cooking crafts and singing. Catherine is survived by her spouse, Louis of Bakersfield, CA; her daughter Courtney of Bakersfield, CA and her son, David also of Bakersfield, CA; her brother Sandy Haydu; and her nieces and nephews and other relatives. Catherine was preceded in death by her father, Sandor Charles Haydu. A funeral service will be held at Basham-Hopson, 620 Oregon St, Bakersfield, CA 93305 at 9:00 am on September 4, 2020.
