Craig Steven Bailey Sr. was born in Houston, Texas, on October 2, 1959, and entered into eternal rest on October 15, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Faye Bailey; sister, Joyce Jones; and brother, Michael O'Neal Bailey. Craig is survived by his wife, Marilyn Bailey of Bakersfield, California; three sisters, Sandra Bibbens, Calvinette Barnes, and Precious Barnes, all of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Dennis Bailey of Bakersfield, California, and Calvin Barnes of Houston, Texas; and special stepmother, Marjorie Barnes of Houston, Texas. Craig attended East High School, where he excelled in football and basketball. He later attended Bakersfield College, where he studied sports medicine. He began coaching at the Boys and Girls Club in 1999, focusing on underprivileged kids, and went on to coach for the Golden Empire Youth Football League for over 20 years, where he was fondly known as "Coach Craig." He coached all the boys in the family, helping to keep them off the streets and out of trouble. He is also survived by his son, Craig Steven Bailey Jr. (Tabitha Bailey) of Los Angeles, California; daughters, Precious Volk (Thomas Volk) of Bismarck, North Dakota, and Deoshanae Bailey of Bakersfield, California; special nephew, Traievon Harris, whom he raised as a son; and goddaughter, Claytranique Dallas of Bakersfield, California. He leaves behind three grandchildren, Domani Nicholson, Mali Bailey, and Nile Bailey, along with a host of nieces and nephews. Craig had a big and loving heart, and he will be truly missed.
