Daniel Cota

August 27, 1952 — March 17, 2017

Danny was born to Joaquin and Guadalupe Cota in Bakersfield, Ca. and graduated from Arvin High School. Shortly thereafter, he became a truck driver, making it his career of over thirty years. Danny was a free spirit, loved the open road, which he traveled either on his motorcycle or his truck. His other greatest passion, besides family, was his love of the Raiders football team. Danny was a friend to all - he knew no strangers. He opened his home and heart to family and friends. As rough and tough as Danny looked, you wouldn't believe how gentle he was with his little dog, Faygo, his feisty Chihuahua.
Danny was preceded in death by his mother and father, as well as his brother, Joaquin Cota, Jr. He is survived by his life partner Rachel Luna; his brothers Ralph (Olga) and Mario Cota; his children Daniel M. Cota and Christina Cota; grandson Daniel R. Cota; his special "grandchildren" Anabelle R. Coronado and Dominic G. Luna; and his stepchildren: Robert, Michael, Isaac, Justin and Gloria. Danny is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, March 26th, at Basham Mortuary on 620 Oregon Street, west of Baker Street. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 27, at 9:00 a.m. in St. Francis Catholic Church, 900 H Street. Interment will immediately follow at Union Cemetery.
We will miss the sparkle in his eyes and his infectious smile.
