Daniel Hernandez Olvera

Daniel Hernandez Olvera was born on April 20, 1963 in Bakersfield, California, to Hilario and Juanita Olvera. He went home to be with the Lord on October 9, 2024 in the presence of his family. He grew up in Mojave, California then moved to Bakersfield, California in 1973. He attended Arvin High School. While there he ran cross country . Shortly after graduating from high school he married and was blessed with two daughters, Veronica and Christina. 

For many years Daniel worked as a butcher at 11-C Super Market and Safeway, ultimately he was able to own his own butcher’s market. Thereafter, he was employed at Nueva High School as well as at Arvin High School.

Daniel loved to go deep sea fishing and attend car shows. His greatest delight was preparing his special recipe of deep pit barbecue for family events, company meetings, and for church fundraisers. Daniel, though he struggled with his health never gave up helping others. He would go out of his way and deliver food to those in need or he would help anyone who would call on him. 

On April 23, 2023, Daniel’s parents prayers were answered. Daniel was baptized by his brother, Joel Olvera in the Name of Jesus Christ at the Lamont Apostolic Church. On that day, God performed a great change in his life, to God be all the honor and the glory!

Daniel is survived by his loving daughter’s Veronica Tillery and Christina Olvera, and 3 grandchildren Jordan Mendez, Nathan Mendez and Jeremiah Martin, his sister Yolanda Ramirez, Hilario Olvera Jr., Moses Olvera, Joshua Olvera, Joel Olvera, two sister in-laws Debbie Olvera and Mary Olvera and many nieces and nephews.

Daniel will be dearly missed, nevertheless he will always live in the hearts and minds of his family, and friends.
