Donnie ‘Don’ Odell Mealer 63 years of age, passed away on September 15, 2021, in Bakersfield CA. Don was born on November 21, 1957, in Bakersfield, CA. to John and Geneva Mealer. Don grew up in Bakersfield CA, and attended South High School. Don worked after school and through his summers at the local Kirby Store. In 1976, Don Married his first love Deborah Lynn Piearcy, Together they had three beautiful children, Daryl J. Mealer, Regina D. Mealer, and Kelly D. Mealer, before their marriage ended in 2003. In 1978 Don started a new job with Barnett’s Tire. Don worked extremely hard at Barnett’s Tire, learning every aspect of every position, taking all the necessary classes to become a certified master mechanic. Don excelled at his job, and he took great pride in working hard and being honest with his clients. With all of Don’s hard dedicated work at Barnett’s he moved his way all the way up to management, and eventually to owner. During the week you could always find Don sitting at his desk, getting clients checked in, and of course always chatting, telling jokes, and teasing them as they waited for their vehicles, except on his lunch hour, you could always find him at sizzler, enjoying lunch with his Iced Tea, with an extra cup of ice, and razzing all the staff, who eventually became friends. Throughout Don’s life he had a passion for speed, from his iconic 89 Iroc Z, to his Kawasaki Ninja street bike, Don loved cruising and testing his need for speed. He loved camping with his son Kelly, riding quads, racing his street bike out at Famoso with his son Daryl, Saturday night races at Bakersfield Speedway with Gina and Kelly and family bbq’s with all his close and extended family. In 2013 Don purchased his first Harley Davidson Motorcycle and Joined the local Harley HOG Group #1580. This is when Don really started to live life, you no longer knew where you could find him, every chance he had he was out on his bike exploring. Don started challenging himself on how many miles he could travel every month and in 2018 he won an award within his group for most miles traveled. Don found a love for exploring all the beautiful places this world has to offer. He was planning a big ride, from coast to coast with stops along the way to visit family and explore new places before his sudden passing. We now can only imagine the beautiful scenery set before him now. Don is survived by his son Daryl J. Mealer, his wife Kristin; Daughter, Regina D. Mealer; Son Kelly D.
