Dorothy Romero

August 7, 1935 — February 4, 2025

Dorothy Mae Romero (Armijo) was born on August 7, 1935 in Bakersfield, California to Frances Armijo (Urrea) and Theodore Armijo. She is survived by her six children: Raphael Romero Jr (Diane), Linda Ruese (Kenny), Arlene Gonzalez (Joe), Anthony Romero (Sandi), Adam Romero (Mona) and Eva Cavazos (Aurelio). She also had 25 grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren who she loved with every ounce of her heart. In 1981 she met the love of her life Antonio Vega. They spent many happy years together. They remained together until his passing in 2015. Dorothy lived a life  that was guided by her love for her family and her faith in Christ.  She thrived in her role as the matriarch of the family. She cherished having close relationships with her children and grandchildren. She absolutely loved spoiling her grandchildren and made sure that she was always an omnipresent figure in her family’s life. Her love for others was deep and genuine. She also didn’t have a dishonest bone in her body. Dorothy loved to dance, cook and entertain her family and loved ones. She always had a busy house. She would do anything for the people that she loved. She was the glue that bonded a very large  family spanning 5 generations. Her big wet juices (kisses) on the lips  will be missed by all who loved her. Dorothy’s decade long journey with dementia ended on February 4th, 2025 when she was called home to be with the Lord. She had family with her every step of the way. Everyone who knew and loved Dorothy is encouraged to attend as we celebrate a beautiful and very meaningful life.
