Eduardo “Eddie” Castaneda, 39, of Bakersfield, CA. went to be with the Lord, while surrounded by family, on July 14, 2023.
Eddie was born in Bakersfield, CA. to Edward and Sandra Castaneda on June 21, 1984. He resided in Bakersfield all his life and graduated from East Bakersfield High School and went on to study Liberal Arts at Bakersfield College. On June 10, 2006 he married the love of his life, Melissa. Soon after, they were blessed with Connor and Courtney. He worked alongside his dad for a few years at Grimmway Farms, and then would join the oilfield industry, for the next 13 years, where he became a supervisor/foreman for Jacobs Field Services, and would finish his career with KSI.
His greatest joys included being a soccer, and cheer dad. He loved to travel and he never missed any extracurricular activities regardless of how he felt. In his spare time, he put his creativity to work and invented whatever came to mind, worked on cars, took care of his variety of pets, showed up whenever his parents needed a hand, and mastered the kitchen and grill. He loved to feed his family and friends whenever given the chance. His barbeque was and always will be untouchable, as will be his 4th of July firework shows. His sense of humor was always present as he was constantly joking around.
He was his dad’s pride and joy, and his mom’s baby boy. He showed up for his sisters without hesitation. He was their protector. He was the best uncle, and soon to be great uncle a kid could ask for. He was always teasing, and going out of his way for his nieces and nephews. They loved their Uncle Ed.
Eddie is preceded in death by his Grandma Jenny, his grandfathers, uncles and aunts, and many more loved ones. “...Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.” Revelations 2:10
Eddie leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Melissa, son, Connor, and daughter, Courtney. His parents, Edward Jose Castaneda, and Antoinette Sandra Castaneda. His sisters, Antoinette, Jennifer, and Danielle. Brother-in-laws Jesse, Damian, and Zach. Nephews and nieces, Kaylah, Jaylin, Elijah, Dominic, Asher, Audrey, and Corbin.
Memorials may be given to Basham Funeral Care at 3312 Niles Street, Bakersfield, CA. 93306.
I Miss You
I thought of you with love today,
but that is nothing new.
I thought about you yesterday
And days before that too.
I think of you in silence,
I often speak your name.
All I have are memories
and your picture in a frame.
Your memory is my keepsake
With which I’ll never part.
God has you in his keeping,
I have you in my heart.
It’s not goodbye , it’s see you later!
