Elizabeth Montgomery, affectionately known as "Big Auntie" or "Liz" to her family and friends, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. She was born on April 15, 1949, in Dumas, Arkansas, to the late Mrs. Ella Mae McDade and Robert Bud McDade. At the age of five, Liz and her family relocated to El Centro, California, where she spent much of her life. She was the oldest of five siblings, and her parents, along with her sisters Ruthie Weathers (Larry), Mary Staton, brothers: Robert McDade Jr, son Anthony English Sr. and grandson Tazmein English, preceded her in death.
Liz was a dedicated and hard-working woman. She attended public schools in El Centro and later became a valued member of the Caltrans maintenance team, where she worked for many years. Her commitment to her job was a reflection of her strong work ethic and determination.
In September of 1964, Liz married Carol W. English in El Centro, California, and to this union, three children were born: Anthony, Reva, and Christina. In 1975, Liz met Charles Montgomery, the love of her life, and they married on February 28, 1983. Together, they shared a beautiful life and were blessed with a bonus son, Odell Montgomery. Later in life, after much prayer, Liz and Charles moved to Bakersfield, California, where they raised their family.
Liz’s greatest role was that of a loving and devoted mother, wife, sister, and friend. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering faith in Christ touched all who knew her. She gave her life to Christ at an early age, and from that moment on, her walk, talk, and lifestyle reflected her dedication to serving Him. Liz was a prayer warrior, a true Proverbs 31 woman, whose love for people, especially her family, was unmatched. She carried herself with grace and style, and her presence was undeniably felt wherever she went.
Liz’s legacy lives on in her children: daughters Reva Moseray and Christina English, son Odell Montgomery; brothers: Robert Jones (Lavanda) & Rodney McDade, her grandchildren Porcha Clark, Anthony Dabbs (Tameca), April Etheridge, Konasha Watson, Andretta Smith, DeAndre Smith, Quantaye Jones, El’Teanna English, Constance English, Anthony English Jr (Jana) and Anthony English III; her 19 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving family and friends. Though Liz will be dearly missed, her memory will forever be cherished. She leaves behind a profound impact on all who knew her, a testament to the love, faith, and grace she shared with the world. Rest in peace, Liz. You will always be remembered with love and affection.
