Passed from this life

Elaine was the tenth child of eleven born to John William Mainer and Hattie Parlee (Craig) Mainer. She lived in the Murphysboro area until her family moved to Centralia in the mid-1930's. Shortly after moving to Centralia her family began attending the Pentecostal Church on South Locust Street. She received the Holyghost while praying with Sister Copple on February the 18th 1945 at a time when several of her brothers were on foreign soil defending our freedom in WWII.
While in high school she met the love of her life, John Norman Piercy. They were married on October 23, 1948. They entered the ministry under Rev. George Hudson at the First United Pentecostal Church in Centralia, Illinois. They were ordained June 17th, 1955. She served alongside her husband as Youth Leader, Sectional Youth Leader, Evangelist and Assistant Pastor in Centralia. She was a singer and musician accomplished on the piano, organ, accordion, bass fiddle and violin. She served diligently with her husband as Pastor in Patoka, Illinois and Vernon, Illinois until the early 1960's.
On October 31, 1963, they moved to Anaheim, California and started a church in Buena Park. The church services were held in the Buena Park Center. In 1969 she graduated from Fullerton College where she studied teaching and later that year her and her husband were called upon to assist Pastor Paul A. Gregory of Calvary Tabernacle Church in San Fernando, California. They continued assisting Brother Gregory until his death, assuming the Pastorate of Calvary Tabernacle in 1972. Serving as Presbyter for Section 4 of the Western District for 5 years they continued in San Fernando. Her love of teaching sparked the beginning of Calvary Christian Academy; there she taught daily where children not only learned to read and write but were taught the word of God.
She was blessed to travel with her husband to Israel, see the Holy Land, and visit Egypt, Turkey and Greece. Later they went with Pastor's on Missions to South America and spent time in Columbia, Ecuador and Brazil. She and her Husband retired and moved to Palmdale, California in 1986.
In the late 1980's they attended church and assisted Reverend Anthony Peterson in Palmdale, California. In 1993 having decided that retirement may have come just a bit too soon they decided to go back into the full-time ministry, taking the church in Arvin, California and continuing there until the passing of her husband on June 12th, 2006. Nearly 58 years of service and still her work did not cease, working faithfully in the Arvin church until 2011. That year she moved with her son John to Reynoldsburg Ohio where he was renewed in the Holyghost which was her daily hope and prayer. There they attended Turn Point Apostolic Church under Reverend Joseph Arata. While in Ohio, she continued to minster and serve. She spent time traveling with her daughter Judith DeWitt and husband Rick to Soul Winning Boot Camps in many states, assisting Evangelist Matt Maddix who lovingly called her Granny. Every Sunday morning until her death she played the piano and sang at the nursing home, bringing a ray of light and hope to those less fortunate.
She loved her children greatly. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life and truly special to her.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hattie Mainer, her brothers Odel, Harold, Melvin, Lawrence, Marvin, Maurice, Cecil and Fred, her sisters Vela and Peggy, her husband John Norman and son John Jeffrey.
