Emma was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Emma Vasquez earned her wings on March 17, 2021 at the age of 74.
Her journey here on earth began in Garceo, Texas where she was born on December 23, 1946 to Jose & Maria Alaniz. Emma was the 2nd oldest of 13 siblings. She loved all of her siblings very much and at a young age had to grow up a little quicker than most. She was like their second mom, since her parents needed her to step in and help out. She lived in Texas for most of her young life, until her family decided to move to California where she also met the love of her life. She soon married what would be her life long companion, Octaviano Vasquez in September 1973. Together they built a humble, simple, yet very loving and wonderful life. They had two beautiful daughters, Maria & Rosario, who they dedicated their life to beginning in 1974.
Emma filled most of her life caring for her family, while also working long and laborious hours in different sectors of agriculture. Although Emma only received an education up to the 2nd grade, she was always a wise and matricharical figure to many of those around her. Often people would seek her consultation for life, relationship, and legal advice. She was happy to drop everything she was doing to help those around her and was always welcoming and kind to every person she encountered, never meeting a stranger. She retired after many years of hard work to care for her grandkids, who were her entire world. She loved being a mom, but nothing compared to the love she had for her 4 grandkids, Edgar Gonzalez, Alexis, Nadelynn, and Kaitlynn Torres.
Emma loved to cook, and share her meals with those around her. On Sunday mornings you would often find her home filled with the aromas of her famous menudo, barbacoa, handmade tortillas de harina and many other delicacies. If you had the opportunity to be in her presence you would have made a life-long friend.
She is survived by her 2 daughters & stepson (Maria Vasquez, Rosario Torres, Octaviano Jr. Vasquez) , son-in-law & daughter-in-law (Jaime Torres, Ana Maria Vasquez) , 7 grandchildren( Edgar Gonzalez, Alexis Torres , Nadelynn Torres, Kaitlynn Torres, Nancy Meija, Jaqueline Vasquez, Octaviano Vasquez III), 4 great-grandchildren (Edgar Jr., Jocylynn, Ethan & Eden Gonzalez) and numerous siblings.
She was preceded in death by her husband Octaviano Vasquez (2015) , her parents Jose and Maria Alaniz, and numerous siblings (Arnoldo Alaniz, Arnulfo Alaniz, Alberto Alaniz & Bertha Serna)
Emma will be remembered for her sassy spirit and beautiful smile. She would want you to take a moment to hug your children, grandchildren, and friends. Time waits for no one.
