Esther Burciaga Mora was born and raised in Bakersfield until the age of 103. She graduated from Bakersfield High School (then Kern County High School), and Bakersfield College. She worked for the State of California, and Kern County in positions at the DMV, Library, Election and Planning Department, she also worked at Kern Schools as a Teachers Aid. In her retirement she became active in two Social Clubs as the Secretary/Treasurer at Sociadad La Edad de Oro and Comite Mexicano de Beneficiaries. She married Alonzo Faz, a high school sweetheart, after the end of WWII. Regrettably, the marriage ended in divorce in 1948. Soon afterwards she met and married an older handsome man, Raymond Mora. She was attracted to his large and loving family the Mora's and Munoz's. They remained married until Ray’s death in 1977. Of her children, Diane passed of health problems in 2017, after years of illness and medical care. Her passing had a heavy effect on the family, as she was taken before her time. Esther’s remaining descendants are her daughter Irene Cantu, and son Raymond Mora ( Nena). She is also survived by three grandchildren, Teri Schaufelberger, Jay Walker (wife Mary), Raequell (Walker) Duran, great-grandchild, Tommy Sinclair (wife Cassandra), great-great-grandchild, Thomas, and many nieces and nephews from the Burciaga, Palomo and Mora families. Her last surviving sibling, Beatrice Palomo, passed last year at the age of 100. They had a close friendship and lived near each other for many years. We are thankful of the support of the Palomo family during her time of grieving. Esther can best be remembered for her quick mind and wittiness, her love for dancing, entertaining and her winning smile.
