Frank was a faithful husband, father, grandfather and a loyal friend. He was born in Bakersfield on July 30, 1944, to Vincent and Icile Holden and passed on February 5, 2017. He was born and raised in Bakersfield, attending McKinley Elementary School, Golden State Junior High and was the proud first graduating class of South High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war. He served on the USS Kennebec and the relationships he formed with his fellow shipmates during this turbulent time lasted a lifetime. Following the Navy, Frank married Donna Stewart and they were married for 20 years. He and Donna had two sons, Mark Holden (Cathy) and Stewart Holden (Gina). He is survived by his brother, Keith Holden, his wife Norma, and sister January Carrier and John.
Frank was an avid sports fan and loved the outdoors. He coached his son's baseball and soccer teams, fished at the creek at his cabin in Balance Rock, enjoyed horseback riding, rode the dunes at the beach and played golf. He especially loved his Corvettes. He loved NASCAR, he was Kevin Harvick's number one fan and never missed a race. Over the years he was the proud owner of a 1976 Corvette, 1991 Corvette and most recently a 2007 Metallic Red Corvette. He was an early member of the Bakersfield Corvette Club; if he saw you driving a Corvette in Bakersfield, he was bound to wave you down and encourage you to join.
Frank worked for several local businesses including the railroad, Jenkins Truck Sales, and Mayo Supply. Eventually, he began a long career as General Manager with Terry Hearron at Advanced Distribution, a place that became his home away from home and a family relationship that lasted for 27 years.
In 2002, Frank started a new chapter of his life. He met and married the love of his life, Mildred Kucera. Together they built a home and a life surrounded by family and friends. Mildred brought two children into the marriage: Chris Kucera and Rebecca Rivera. Frank and Rebecca (Becky) were buddies and became very close, he became more of a Dad to her than her own and she called him Pops.
Frank was blessed to have ten grandchildren: Tiffani, Kobe, Izabella, Tayton, Bryson, Christian, Cai, Charlotte, Mindy and Kelsie.
