Guadalupe Vargas Gonzales

With loving remembrance, we honor the life of Guadalupe “Wally” Vargas-Gonzales, 72, who left this world on February 16, 2025, in Manteca, California. Born on August 12, 1952, in Bakersfield, California, Wally lived a life filled with love, wisdom, and devotion to his family and his faith.

For nearly three decades, he was a dedicated employee of the Kern Community College District, touching many lives with his kindness, patience, and steadfast work ethic. More than anything, Wally was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend who made those around him feel safe, validated, and nurtured. His protective nature, thoughtfulness, and immense positive energy left a lasting impact on everyone he met.

Wally had a deep love for his family and offered unconditional support through life’s ups and downs. His calm presence was a source of comfort, and his keen curiosity about the world led to countless thought-provoking conversations. He had a gift for offering profound insights that reflected his endless fascination with life’s mysteries.

An avid Los Angeles Dodgers fan and season ticket holder, Wally found great joy in cheering on his team. He also had a deep appreciation for music of all genres and loved sharing meals with family and friends. And when the music played, Wally danced—embracing life with joy and enthusiasm.

He is survived by his two younger brothers, four loving children, ten cherished grandchildren, four nieces, and several cousins who will carry forward his love, wisdom, and spirit.

Funeral services are coordinated by Basham Funeral Care in Bakersfield, and he will be laid to rest at Historic Union Cemetery in Bakersfield.

His presence will be deeply missed, but his love, laughter, and wisdom will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
