Guadalupe (Lupe) Reyes (95 years young) was born on November 14th, 1921 and passed to be with our Lord on November 29th, 2016. Lupe was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to so many. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Salvador S. Reyes, daughter Carolyn Hawkins and sons Salvador JR and Ronald Reyes all of Bakersfield. She is survived by daughters Gloria Billins of Hemet California, Esther Reyes, Debbie Jones and Elizabeth Davis of Bakersfield. Also by sons Harry and Bryan Reyes of Bakersfield and Michael Reyes of Tulsa Oklahoma. Born in Colorado she and her family moved to Tulare and Kern County over 75 years ago. It was here she met her beloved husband and started her own family of five boys and five girls. Lupe worked at several different jobs throughout the years from cooking in restaurants to farm labor. All to help support the loves of her life which were her children. She lived for her children and especially her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lupe also loved her many brothers and sisters. Sacrificing her own needs to give her family what they needed was always first and foremost. She gave selflessly to the ones she loved without a second thought. Not just of physical things but of what mattered most, her heart and soul. Lupe never met a stranger and was known by many as a second mom. She touched the lives of both young and old with memories and smiles to last a lifetime. Lupe will forever live in the hearts and minds of so many and will truly be missed. May she rest in paradise for all eternity. Services for Lupe will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 10:00am in the Basham Funeral Chapel at 3312 Niles St. Bakersfield, Ca 93306. Flowers and other gifts can be sent directly to the Chapel one day prior to services. The family would like to thank the Staff from Rosewood Retirement Community as well as all of Lupe's friends there for the love and care given to her. She loved every one of you.
