Guadalupe "Lupe" Rivera
Guadalupe "Lupe" Rivera passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, in Bakersfield, California, at the age of 95. She was born in 1929 in Bakersfield to her loving parents, Bonifacio and Augustina Reyes.
Lupe was a proud graduate of Kern County Union High School, Class of 1947. She embarkeo on a long and dedicated career as a senior bookkeeper at Hoppers Inc., where she worked until the company closed in 1992. In 1993, she joined Kern Regional Center, where she continued her professional journey until her well-earned retirement in 2012. Over the years, Lupe formed countless cherished friendships, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of working alongside her.
In December 1956, Lupe married the love of her life, Arthur "David" Rivera. They shared a beautiful life together until his passing in 1978.
Though widowed, Lupe remained strong and devoted to her family, finding immense joy in the special moments she spent with her grandson, Brandon Rivera, and her daughter-in-law, Pam Rivera. Whether sharing meals, going on shopping trips, or simply enjoying each other's company, Lupe treasured every moment with them. She also had a deep passion for traveling and embraced the opportunity to explore the world.
Lupe was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Bonifacio and Augustina Reyes, and her husband, David Rivera.
She is lovingly survived by her brother, Danny Sanchez (Ruth), her adored grandson, Brandon Rivera, her dear daughter-in-law, Pam Rivera, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins from Bakersfield and the Bay Area, and many cherished friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Summit Hills and Hoffman Hospice for their exceptional care and support.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 124 Columbus Street, Bakersfield. A graveside service will follow at Union Cemetery, 730 Potomac Street.
Lupe's kindness, strength, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
