Hershel Allen West January 19, 1942 - March 19, 2021

Hershel Allen West, 79, passed away on March 19 at Height Street skilled nursing home in Bakersfield, California. He was born on January 19, 1942 in Heavener, Oklahoma to Clarence and Edna Martin West.

Hershel grew up in Lathrop, California. After High School he joined the Army where he was stationed in Germany and France. He worked for Bureau of Reclamation-Friant-Kern Canal as a maintenance worker where he worked for 31 years.

Hershel married Juanita Louise in 1981 in Clark, Nevada. They were happily married for 40 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going to church. Hershel is survived by is wife, Juanita West of Bakersfield, California, his daughters, Kristy Lopez and Husband, Luis of Delano, California, Kimberly Reid and husband Robert of Bakersfield, California and son, Ronnie Oates and wife Leah of Bakersfield, California, and Shelley Smith and husband Alan, his brothers, Richard West of Washington, Tim West of Redding, California and sister, Mitt of Stockton, California, 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Hershel is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Edna West, brother, Stanley and sister, Janice West and one child.
