It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Robert Baity, a proud and Courageous member of the US Army's 82nd Airborne Division.
Jerry was born on August 15, 1943, in Salem, Illinois to Robert and Bonnie Baity. His siblings include Judy Wools and husband Frank, Kitty Nettles, Robert Baity and wife Nina and Ron Batty and wife Chris. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family in Bakersfield, California on October 9, 2023.
Jerry served our nation with unwavering dedication in the US Army, 82nd Airborne Division. Having served 8 years, some of his accomplishments include Expert Riffleman, Jumpmaster Parachutist, and Heavy Equipment Operator. During his enlistment he served in Okinawa as a Heavy Equipment Operator, then went on to the Dominican Republic where he earned the Armed Forces Expeditionary medal and finished his military career in Dex Heim, Germany as a First Class Sergeant.
After his military career, Jerry and Freida moved their family back to Taft, California. Jerry worked in the Petroleum industry for 30 years. He worked for Berry Holt4iilg Company, Western Well Service, and retired from Total Western.
Jerry was a beloved family member and cherished friend to many. Those that knew him loved hint without question. He always offered a bright smile and a kind ear to listen. He enjoyed playing golf, was a member of the American Pool Association competing iii many tournaments. He loved country- dancing, playing cards, and bingo at his favorite taverns.
He is survived by his 3 children, Christopher Baity, and his wife Nok, Misty Jeffries and Rob Jeffries, and Scott Baity and his wife Susan. Grandchildren, Brianna Matthews husband LeAndre, Magan Chicca and husband Christopher
Kathleen Pretzer, Zachary Baity, and wife Kinsey Matthew Baity, and 7 glorious great grand‹4cliil‹lren, along with numerous nieces, arid nephews.
A memorial service will be held on November 9, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Bakersfield National Cemetery, v here we will come together to celebrate his life and legacy.
