Jimmy Reginald Erwing

Jimmy Reginald Erwing "Calif Red" died unexpectedly and sadly on October 10, 2020 in Bakersfield, Ca at the age of 71.

Jimmy is survived by his daughter Nechelle Van Rossum, of Ventura, Ca. Sister's Peggy Scott, of Ventura, Ca, and Pat Erwing of Oxnard, Ca. Jimmy is preceded in death by his Parents Harris and Margie Erwing, of Los Angeles, Ca, Brother's Dorchester Erwing of Los Angeles, Ca, Harris Erwing Jr. "Bunny" of Los Angeles, Ca, Ronald Edward Erwing of Los Angeles, Ca, and a host of niece's, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, family, and friends who loved him dearly.

Jimmy was born on February 4, 1949 in Los Angeles, Ca to Harris and Margie Erwing. Jimmy graduated from Ventura High School in Ventura, Ca in 1967 and later went on to college. Jimmy married Verla Erwing of Ventura, Ca. Jimmy later moved to San Francisco, Ca where he re-married Shirley Erwing of San Francisco, Ca. After moving back to Ventura, Ca in the 1980's, Jimmy began working for Exxon Oil Drilling Rig as Head Cook and later retired. Jimmy loved meeting people, and he loved helping others. You will truly be missed.

A funeral is scheduled for 5:00 PM Saturday December 5, 2020 at Basham Funeral Home 3312 Niles Street Bakersfield, Ca 93306, with no reception to follow due to covid-19 restrictions. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Jimmy's life.
