In Loving Memory of Jose (Lupe) Hernandez
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend. Lupe was born on February 3, 1956 in La Barca, Jalisco, Mexico and went to be with the Lord on November 23, 2018.
As a husband, he was loving, compassionate, and funny, often playing pranks on his wife, Estela, making her laugh. He was a caring, giving, and supportive father, loving his children unconditionally. He instilled the importance of hard work in his children and taught them that no dream is too big. As a grandfather, he loved hugging his grandchildren and showered them with kisses. He was a family man who loved being surrounded by his family. His favorite pastimes included dancing, laughing, playing music, cooking, telling jokes, and playing card games.
Growing up in Mexico, and being the oldest of ten children, at 12 years old Lupe began working for his father's business. He was a hardworking son for his mother Francisca. As a brother, he was protective and caring. His siblings adored him.
In 1984, he came to the U.S. to make a better life for himself and his wife. He obtained his working permit and worked 6 years for Bolthouse and 22 years at Mexicali Restaurant, all the while continuing to financially support his mother in Mexico. He was always grateful for what he had. He was a selfless, compassionate person, always putting others before himself.
Lupe was a great friend and easily befriended others wherever he went. He was full of life and a kid-at-heart. He was very joyful, always dancing and being silly. He enjoyed cooking, and loved spending time with family. He was always willing to help others, never rejecting a single person in need.
Lupe was a devoted catholic and attended the church of Our Lady of Guadalupe regularly. He would always come home with boxes of empty candles in his hand. He will help out the church by recycling the candles for the church.
Lupe is survived by his wife: Ana Estela Hernandez; his four children: Juan Carlos, Jessica, Vanessa, and Joshua; his six grandchildren: Nathan, Isaac, Kaylee, Aubrey, Mischa, and Jaxon; his seven sisters and two brothers: Rosa Maria, Maria de Carmen, Ramona, Teresa, Ana Isabel, Eva, Marie, Jose de Jesus, and Enrique.
All whose hearts were touched by Lupe are welcomed to attend his services and bid their last farewell.
