Jose Lara Tellez

On Thursday, March 31, 2022, Jose Lara Tellez, beloved son, brother and uncle went to be with the Lord at the age of 55. Jose was born in Bakersfield, California on August 4, 1966 to Jose and Maria Tellez. He was a graduate of East Bakersfield High School. Jose as a young man had a passion for racing. He won many trophies in BMX racing. He was always a crowd favorite when he raced his bike. He was a big fan of auto racing. Formula One was his favorite. He loved cars of all kinds and enjoyed building model cars as a boy. He also had a love for music. He played the piano, guitar and drums. He had the joy of playing in a rock band LOCK 12 with his brother Jorge and friend Matt. He always had a smile on his face and a funny story to tell. He had nicknames for all his family and was always willing to help out when he was needed by his family. He taught his niece to drive and play the piano. He shared his love for movies with his nieces and nephews. He was kind and good hearted. He was loved by everyone who knew him. Jose was preceded in death by his father Jose, and his mother, Maria. He is survived by his sister, Rosa King of Denton, Texas, sister Alicia Cordova of Bakersfield, California, sister Sonia Arnold of Bakersfield, California, sister Alma Blinn of Jeffersonville, Indiana and brother Jorge Tellez of Middlefield, Connecticut. He was an uncle to Christopher, Elliott, Cristal, Richard, Linda, Anthony, Frances, Alora, Ryan, Eliana, and Elena. Viewing for Jose will be at Basham Funeral Care 3312 Niles Street Bakersfield, California on Thursday, April 21, 2022 between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
