On the evening of Monday, December 11, 2017, Josefina Hernandez joined her mother and father, Juanita Fernandez and Pascual Hernandez, with the Lord. She was 73 years old.
Josefina was born May 21, 1944 in San Jose de Gracia, Jalisco. She moved to Bakersfield, CA with her children in 1979.
Retired from Westminster Ceramics in 1997, she devoted herself full-time to serving the Lord at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, where she received the honor of being named Woman of the Year in 2004. Josefina is fondly remembered for her dedication to teaching catechism, visiting the sick, and reciting scripture during mass.
She shared the light of the Lord through her charisma, smile, and generous spirit.
Josefina enjoyed knitting, making rosaries with her granddaughter Bella, taking vacations to Eagle Mountain Casino, singing to mariachi songs, and dancing, of course.
She is survived by the father of her children, Ruben Valle; her daughters, Guillermina Valle, Juanita Patino, Gloria Pino, her sons: Raul Valle and Ruben Valle, 20 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, her sisters: Olivia and Alta Gracia, and her brothers: Ramon and Marcelino Hernandez.
The Lord is my shepherd, I want for nothing;
He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters;
He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for You are with me; you rod and your staff, they comfort me.
