Karla Renee Keys was born in San Francisco, California on September 14, 1980. She was the daughter of Pastors Harold and Johnnie Keys. Karla was 36 years.Karla spent over four years in Germany, Europe with her parents. While stationed at Lindsey Air Station, Wiesbaden, she had the opportunity to travel with her parents to Berchtesgaten in the Bavarian Alps and other interesting places. While living at Edwards Air Force Base and attending local schools in Bakersfield she excelled in her academicsoverall exceeding her peers in her school work and grades. At the age of nine, Karla played her first impressive piano recital, and received further training by her piano teacher, the late Mrs. Peggy Sutton.In junior high school she was often placed on the Principals List for academic achievement. In 1997 she won first place in the Fair Housing Poster/Essay Contest. Karla was trained in the nursing field and graphics. She was very good at creative writing, math, photography, cosmetology and very computer savvy. She had a pronounced, innate talent for drama, (plus make you truly laugh-a ham). She was multi-talented and gifted. She could have easily become a successful actress, if the pathway and opportunity presented itself.Karla fought some hard battles in her life, and was taught where to go for her spiritual needs-to the Lord Jesus Christ and the Word of God. She received the Lord when she was a young girl, and she was baptized in water. She successfully completed Bible school correspondence courses on her own.Karla is survived by her parents, Harold and Johnnie Keys and four beautiful children she birthed who will cherish her memory; Zacheary, Joziah, Derrick Jr., and Hailee(Izaiah preceded her in death); along with uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of relatives and friends, along with the Denise Smith and Amey families.Karla passed-on during Pass-over-April 16.
