Kiki Effie Lomeli, aged 92, peacefully passed away on November 16, 2024, in Bakersfield, California. Born on April 7, 1932, in Porterville, California, Kiki was the cherished youngest of 19 siblings—a testament to the strength and warmth of a large, loving family.
Kiki proudly served his country for two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his honorable service, he settled in Bakersfield, where he built a life filled with dedication and passion. For 42 years, Kiki was a steadfast employee of Pacific Bell, where he worked as a Construction Lineman and Maintenance Repairman, retiring in 1992 with a legacy of hard work and commitment.
One of Kiki’s greatest joys was the game of golf—a love affair that lasted a lifetime. His prowess on the golf course was legendary, and many would say, with a smile, that playing against him came with a risk of being “hustled.” His weekends, evenings, and sometimes even work breaks were spent perfecting his swing and sharing stories with friends on the greens. Even as age required him to slow down, he remained devoted, finding joy in simply hitting balls and being surrounded by the camaraderie of the game he loved.
Known for his magnetic personality, Kiki was larger than life. He never met a stranger, his laughter and stories brightening every room he entered. Generosity defined him—whether helping a friend in need, lending a hand to a neighbor, or supporting his family, Kiki’s kindness was boundless. Those fortunate enough to know him felt the profound impact of his presence; he enriched every life he touched.
Kiki’s departure leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his memory will be a cherished light. He will be deeply missed, but we hold onto the hope that we will one day be reunited.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 2, at 10:00 a.m. at the National Cemetery, 30338 E Bear Mountain Blvd, with a reception and luncheon to follow at Señor Pepe’s, 8450 Granite Falls Dr. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Kiki’s honor.
Condolences can be shared on Kiki Effie Lomeli’s online guestbook at www.bashamfuneralcare.com.
