Kirk Alexander Shores

Please join us and share your journey with Kirk, or just join us to send Kirk our love. Kirk Alexander Shores was born on March 2, 1979 in Towson Maryland. He died on February 4, 2021 in Buttonwillow California, at the age of 41. Kirk had an interesting, challenging, and fulfilling life, filled with friends, family, community and love. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hotel Administration. He then earned a Juris Doctorate at the School of Law at Loyola University. During his college years he enjoyed travel throughout Europe and met many long-time friends. Kirk worked in law and in education, and then decided that he needed something more rewarding, something happier. Since he was a little boy, he wanted to have his own food service business, and now was the time - he built a pizza concession and began marketing and selling pizza from his concession at county fairs and events throughout California. His business was called "Pizza Market", and he truly enjoyed the life of a "Carnie", as he called it. He loved the camaraderie of the vendors, the happiness he brought to his customers, the challenge of making his concession more efficient and attractive, and he truly enjoyed making his space the most appealing it could be. When COVID hit, there were no more fairs and public events. But Kirk did not give up - he decided to sell his pizza from a vending machine outside of his warehouse. His Grand Opening was to be two weeks after he passed. It is so sad that could not see this part of his dream come true. Kirk loved his small town of Buttonwillow, where he lived and worked in his warehouse on Front Street. He wanted to create something that the town would be proud of, and he did. There are many fine friends in that town that will truly miss Kirk. Kirk loved his family. He had a son, Alexander Eric Shores, whom he loved dearly. He loved his friends from all over the world. He loved his music - he played his guitar and sang beautifully almost every night. He loved his Pizza Market business and worked so hard these past three years to make it a success. I think that most of all, he loved his beagle, Gizmo - his faithful companion for thirteen years. Gizmo now lives with us, Kirk's parents, and is a cherished part of our family.
