Larry Allen Jack Jr
October 20, 1955 - December 30, 2019
Larry was the beloved husband of Carolyn Jack. He was the son of Lawrence Jack and Roberta Jack. He was the brother of Jerry Jack. He was Dad to Sarah Marie Jack who died of heart issues at 6 mos, Melissa Martinez (Robert), Jeremy Jack (Samantha), Stephanie and Tarah Williams(step-daughters. He was the best grandpa to Daniel Esquivel, Monique Ceja, AJ and Nathan Carrillo, Karen Martinez, Adalynn and Jeremy Jack Jr.
Larry was born and raise here in Bakersfield. He graduated from Foothill High. He attended Bakersfield College then decided to enlist in the Army in 1975. He was honorably discharged. He went to work for SBC (phone company) where he met Karen Whaley. They married in 1981. She died of brain cancer in 2002. After being laid off from the phone company due to the merger Larry decided to start his own business called Grass Master Professional lawn maintenance/ landscape after his father in law convinced him he had the best looking yard on the block. Through hard work, dedication, and his good o'l boy charm Grass Masters has grown to be a thriving successfull business for 30 yrs. In 2006 through the efforts of a dear friend, Audrey Giese he was set up with Carolyn Williams. They met on a blind date. They discovered they had a lot in common and were inseparable. They married in 2010. They had a great life together. They enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas (every time she could pry him away from work), Florida and Hawaii. They enjoyed camping in their 5th wheel toy hauler with family and friends hauling the Harley motorcycle. They enjoyed riding around exploring the scenery. Larry was friends with many. He was blessed to have many friends. Several years back he became a member of the California Landscape Contractors Assoc. He climbed the ranks and became President of the Kern County Chapter in 2018. With the help of his fellow members the Kern County CLCA chapter is one of the most successful chapters in the State. Larry's big heart, smile, and distinct laugh will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 at Grace Assembly of God church, 2800 Larson Lane. His burial ceremony will at 2 pm at the National Veterans cemetery off 58 fwy south on 223. There will be a catered dinner reception back at the church 2800 Larson Lane around 4 pm. In lieu if flowers donations are being accepted for the Larry Jack Reflective Garden which is to be built on the church property to honor Larry's memory.
