Len Nicholson was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Len and Edna Nicholson on March 13, 1944. The family relocated to Bakersfield, CA in 1946, where he attended Potomac Elementary School and Lincoln Junior High School. He received his High School Diploma from Bakersfield High in 1962.
After graduating from high school, Len enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. Shortly after, he attended Bakersfield College and earned a certificate as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). He was employed as an LVN by Kern Medical Center and Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield, CA. He later worked and retired as a Firefighter for the County of Kern.
He married Elaine Hicks on March 13, 1972. Five children were born from this union.
Len is preceded in death by his father, Len Nicholson; his mother, Edna Nicholson; his sister, Gail Wyrick; and his daughter, Andrea Nicholson.
He leaves to mourn his significant other, Annette Berryman. He is survived by his children: Thomas Nicholson of San Francisco, CA; Nick Nicholson (Lydia), Lenard Nicholson (Dawona), and Audrea Nicholson of Bakersfield, CA. Stepchildren: Jay Hicks (Yvonne) and Lisa Hicks Warren of Bakersfield CA; Marcus Hicks of Brooklyn, NY. Siblings: Lillian Nicholson, Lori Johnson, Terri Johnson, LaMica Johnson, and Marcus Johnson of Bakersfield, CA; Barbara Nicholson and Cathy Johnson of Stockton, CA. He is also survived by 14 Grandchildren and 3 Great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Len Nicholson was a charmer. He was very funny and loved making people laugh. He told the most elaborate stories, whether true or untrue. He was a very confident and happy person and appreciated life. Len enjoyed hunting in his younger years, playing cards, and watching sports on television. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his mother. He will be deeply missed.
He passed away peacefully on August 3, 2020.
