Lily Lavanderos

Lily Lavanderos, age 81 of Bakersfield, CA. passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at home with her loved ones. She was born November 29, 1942 in Wharton, TX. to the late Domingo Soliz, and Clara Macias Soliz.. 

Lily moved to California from her beloved Texas with her daughters in 1990. Throughout her life she served as counselor, teacher, babysitter, and judge. She was the strength of will and glue that kept everyone in check and reminded us all what family really meant. Her role in the lives of her large family can't be overstated. She loved her bingo and dancing. She was always up for a cumbia. She loved attending her grandchildren's games and performances. She loved the Lakers, Cowboys and even the cheating Astros. She may have loved her sweets a bit too much, but who can blame her. She loved the most unlovable puppy, Scooby. She loved Texas, and never let anyone forget that Texas was her home. 

Above all, she loved her family. She was always more concerned about her family than herself. She wanted nothing more than the family to be together, to love and support each other in both good times and bad. 

Lily was preceded in death by her parents, Domingo and Clara; sisters, Sabina "Sally" Gomez, Debbie Traster, Angelita "Hala" Soliz; and brother Cruz Solis. She is survived by her sister Rosa Luna, and brother Ramon Soliz; her ex-husband Jimmy Flores; three daughters, Jaleh Decker, Michelle Sandoval, and Tracy McKinney; grandchildren, Sean Sheard, Eric Flores, Matthew Decker, Joshua Flores, Manuel De La Cueva, Michael De La Cueva, Sara Sandoval, Sergio Sandoval, Chelsea Flores, Nadya Quintero, Yasmine Quintero, Ethan McKinney; bonus grandchildren Artie Lawson, Herbert "LJ" Jones, Domingo "Mingo" Eskandar, Angelita "Angie" Eskandar, and Zelia Eskandar; along with thirteen great-grandchildren. 

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Hoffman Hospice.
