Lloyd “Buster” Lewis

On Saturday, March 12, 2022, Lloyd “Buster” Lewis of Bakersfield, CA passed away at the age of 65. A fighter to the end, Buster was with his beautiful wife, Julia, when he went to be with the Lord after battling a brief illness. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 45 years, his sons, Robert and Mark, Robert’s wife, Melissa, his grandchildren, Matthew, Ashley and Emma along with his sisters, Sissy Lewis and Sherry Morris. Buster was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Lewis, his parents, Shirley and Robert Lewis, and his beloved nana, Phylis King. Buster was a very much loved uncle, brother-in-law, cousin, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
He was born and resided in Bakersfield his entire life. He attended North High and Standard School. His first job was a newspaper boy and he then worked for 45 years for Gary Drilling and later Ensign -earning his way up to rig manager. When his grandson, Matthew decided he wanted to be a race car driver, Buster was overjoyed as he loved NASCAR and racing. No one would have ever guessed Buster would soon be the biggest fan of girls basketball but, when Emma and Ashley started to play, there he was cheering wildly for “Papa’s girls”. Buster shared his enthusiasm for life and he was the biggest advocate of his family and friends including those from his earliest days of high school rodeo, oil rigs, go-kart and dirt track racing. He was always willing to lend a helping hand or a nudge in the right direction. To all his friends on Facebook, you should know he really was interested in everything you posted... and that he cared about you because that is who he was... the best of Bakersfield.
