Louise Araujo August 25, 1929 - January 12, 2021
On January the 12, our beautiful mother was embraced by our loving Creator in Heaven, surrounded by her loved ones.
Mom was born in Bakersfield, California on August 25, 1929, the seventh child of Eleuterio and Isidora.
She attended local parochial schools and graduated from Bakersfield High School. On June 17, 1950, she married Albert Araujo, and together they raised six children. She worked for many years the Mercy Hospital Laundry Department. In addition to her work and home life, Mom was very active in her parish community. For decades, she was a catechism teacher at St. Jude Mission and a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Mom was a proud member of the Altar Guild, Legion of Mary, and the Guadalupanas. In Honor of her many years of selfless service to the Catholic community, Mom was named the Our Lady of Guadalupe "Woman of the Year" in 1992.
Mom led her life in a way that reflected God's word. She readily embraced all that she encountered and possessed a gift in revealing God's love to others. She went out into the world as a true servant of Christ, ministering to the sick, feeding the hungry, and bringing comfort to the afflicted.
She had many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, yet still managed to make you fell as if you were the most special and loved in the entire world. Grammie's love was always made evident through her gentle smile and adoring gaze. Although we will miss our Mom and Grammie terribly, we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace, in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Her lasting legacy will be that she let all she did be done in love.
Mom is preceded in death by her husband, her son Donald and siblings, Dora, Nellie, Mary, Lupe, Lucy and James. She is survived by her children, Albert (Patricia), Richard (Cindy), Anna, William (Elizabeth) and Judith (David), 16 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held of February 2nd at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Co-patroness of the Unborn, 4600 E. Brundage Ln. Interment to follow at Union Cemetery, 730 Potomac Ave. Social distancing will be followed, and masks are required.
Condolences may be shared to Louise G. Araujo's guest book at www.bashamfuneralcare.com. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Co-patroness of the Unborn Building Fund.
