Maria Del Rocio Rivera's Obituary
Let me tell ya’ll about the woman who was the life of the party. A woman who made everyone laugh, but had a laugh of her own unlike any other. A woman so grand that after 59 marvelous years here on Earth, God said she deserved to be shared with the heavens above. He called upon her on December 17, 2021. A woman born Maria Del Rocio Rivera, but everyone knew her as Rosie a.k.a “Cutie Pie”, a.k.a “The Legend”, a.k.a “HaHaHa”, a.k.a “Chupitos” in her younger days (Need I say more).
Our beloved Rosie was born on August 30, 1962, in Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico to Servando “Tiger” Rivera Sr. and Aurora Quintana. As the third youngest sibling of her many brothers and sisters, at the age of 6, she came over to the United States with her family in search of better opportunities and their own American dreams.
After migrating throughout the States, the Rivera family settled in Arvin, Ca, where Rosie would make some lifelong friends and eventually a family of her own. After graduating from Arvin High School, she would start her almost 40-year career working for Grimmway Farms (Rumor has it, her employee number was 1). Not only was she a devoted employee, but most importantly, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, tia, and friend.
Rosie was mama to two daughters Angelica and Veronica Rivera, and Hahaha to grandchildren Destiny, Jaeson, Kataleya, and Abbey. She was the backbone of the family. The glue that kept everyone together. Although they will deeply miss her presence, they will hold the many memories they have of Rosie close to their hearts. Notably, her big personality, dance moves, hugs, laughter, admirable confidence, and teaching that “if you wanna be somebody… if you wanna go somewhere…you better wake up and pay attention” (and power to call you the name of every other family member before she gets to yours).
Everyone who knew Rosie can agree that if times got tough, she would be there, even if it meant putting you before herself. She loved a good time, but opened her arms and welcomed the bad because the strong independent woman she was, knew that sometimes people just needed a helping hand to get them off the ground. For many, she was the go-to person to vent to, cry with, and laugh with, and at the end of the day, you knew no matter how much Rosie had going on, she would still make time to check on you. There was no such thing as a stranger to her, everyone was family, and although she showed it more in her actions than her words, she truly loved and cared for everyone in her life.
There will never be another family-giving, Eeyore-loving, warm hug-giving, dance-moving woman as great as our Rosie. Rest in Paradise, Hahaha.
- Our Lord took her home and reunited her with her father, Servando “Tiger” Rivera Sr.; mother, Aurora Rivera-Quintana; the youngest sister, Angelica Rivera; oldest brother, Juan Jose Rivera; sister Carmen Rivera-Mejia, brother Adrian Rivera, sister Maria “Chuy” Rivera-Nuno, and brother Hermilo Rivera.
Continuing Rosie’s life and future visions are her two daughters, Angelica and Veronica; grandchildren, Destiny, Jaeson, Kataleya, and Abbey. Her big sister, Elvira Nuno; big brothers, Servando Rivera Jr. and Salvador Rivera, and little brother, Pablo Rivera.
