Maria "Minnie" Estrada
August 8, 1952 - December 5, 2019
Maria was born to Rudolfo G. Rangel and Elydia Jimenez on August 8. 1952 in Bakersfield, California and passed away peacefully at home with family at her side on December 5, 2019.
Maria grew up in Lamont, California where she attended elementary school, Mt. View Jr High and Arvin High School. Maria danced for local events and on television. Maria went on to marry and have 4 children who she took care of on her own. Maria worked for Cal State Bakersfield as their Lead Custodian for the Student Union Building until she had to leave due to disability.
Maria enjoyed watching her Grandchildren and pets. She enjoyed picking her grandchildren up from school and taking them for snacks before dropping them off at home. The love for her grandchildren was like no other. She enjoyed her three dogs, Snooki, Lil' Bit and Peaches. She took care of them like if they were her children. She enjoyed cooking for her family and passing on recipes to her grandchildren.
Maria is preceded in death by her Parents Rudy and Elydia Rangel, brother Robert Rangel and Niece Christina Rangel Ortiz.
Maria is survived by her daughter Veronica Estrada and her three children David Silva, Lizette Estrada and Xochitl Estrada. Daughter Angela Vera and husband Hugo Vera and their children Priscilla Vera, Breanna Vera and Arthur Vera. Daughter Sophia L. Estrada and her daughter Graciela M. Ellis and son in law Leon F. Ellis Jr. Daughter Georgia T. Cardenas and husband Alejandro Cardenas and their children Maria Cardenas, Jacob Cardenas, Eve Cardenas and Robert "Bob" Cardenas. Her Brother Rudy Rangel Jr. and wife Patricia "Pat" Rangel and their children Lennie Guerrero, Lillie Rangel and Simon Rangel. And numerous family and friends.
Maria's Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW post 10859, 3530 S. Union Ave. Bakersfield, CA. 93307 on December 12, 2019 at 12pm. Please come and celebrate Maria's life with family and friends. Maria always wanted a party to celebrate her life with Mariachi's, DJ and plenty of food.
The Family would like to give a special thanks to Adventist Hospital, Dr. Quiogue, Dr. Nair and Optimal Hospice for providing their mother with the dignity she deserved at the end of her life.
