Maria "Mia" Franco, 64, went to her Lord on January 20, 2021. She was born on October 12,1956 in Bakersfield, Ca to Emilio and Nettie Romero. Maria grew up in Bakersfield, CA. She graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1974. After high school, she attended Bakersfield College where she took several classes. She worked for a finance company for a few years before she left to work for Casa Moore Furniture Store. She eventually ended up working at Bessie Owens Primary School as a Teacher Aide for years. In October 2007, she joined the Kern County Sheriff's Office as their receptionist and gatekeeper. Maria married Raymond on February 16, 1978 in Bakersfield, California. They were happily married for 42 years. She enjoyed camping with the family, but her favorite was camping at the dunes. She loved to be out and about with Raymond, lunch and dinner dates. Going out to dinner with friends was her favorite pastime. She loved her margaritas. Family trips to the beach or Knott's Berry Farm with all the kids and grandkids was something she looked forward to in the Summer. She loved working in her yard and keeping it clean. Football Sundays were fun, she would cheer on the Packers with Raymond and Charlotte, or the Raiders if she was at John's house, or if it was a random game, whoever Tom Brady was playing against. But, most of all, she loved to yell at Raymond. Maria is survived by her spouse, Raymond of Bakersfield, California; her son John; Her daughter, Jennifer and Robert Bruce and her youngest daughter Alexandra and Alfonso Bolton. Her sister, Ernestine (Robert) Martinez, sister, Sally (Lupe) Sanchez and sister Patricia Romero all of Bakersfield, California. She also leaves behind 8 grandkids, Tyler, Madison, Jeremy, Rhyleigh, Brock, Caliegh, Charlotte and Penelope and her cat, Snowball that slept at the end of her bed at night and many nieces and nephews. Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Emilio and Nettie Romero and her only brother, Johnny Romero. A visitation will be held at Basham Funeral Care on 3312 Niles St, Bakersfield, CA 93306 on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 11 AM- 1 PM. Graveside will follow at Greenlawn Southwest at 2739 Panama Lane.
