Maria Luisa Vela

Maria Luisa Vela "Licha” was born June 22, 1926, age 95, passed away peacefully on Monday February 21, 2022. Licha was born in Highland, Oklahoma. She is preceded in death by her parents Benito Gutierrez and Eugenia Rosales Gutierrez and daughters Maria Guadalupe Tovar, Yolanda Gutierrez, Maria Eugenia Cavazos. She is survived by her children, Maria Margarita Vela, Maria Luisa Garza (Jake Garza), Antonio Vela, Miguel Vela, Jose Vela (Maria Vela), and Hector Vela plus 29 grandchildren, 88 great grandchildren, and 45 great great grandchildren. Licha truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. She enjoyed having family and friends over with a lot of music, dancing and laughter. She loved her family unconditionally and loved to cook, but her specialty was making the best home-made tortillas this side of the border. She will be greatly missed by her family who adore her with all their hearts. Goodbye to a beautiful woman and a wonderful Mother. Thank you all for your prayers, and for coming to celebrate our dear mother passing into eternal life.
