Marian Argain Schamblin passed away on May 11, 2016 in Selma, California. Marian was born on August 29, 1911 in Bakersfield. She was the only daughter of the Pioneer French Basque family of Dominique and Manuela Argain. Marian had 5 brothers. She married Leo A. Schamblin on June 3,1933 and it was a happy marriage that lasted 68 years until Leo's death on January 5, 2002. She was a very caring homemaker. Her home, family, friends, sewing, knitting, gardening, volunteering and her weekly bridge games with dear friends of many years were her life. She was a loving wife, mother,grandmother and great grandmother. She gave herself without reservation and was always ready to help where help was needed. She was a life long member of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church and attended Washington Elementary and K.C.U. H.S. where she graduated with the class of 1929. She is preceded in death by her loving husband and lifelong companion, Leo Sr. on January 5, 2002; her son, Leo Jr. on April 10,2010; her grandson, Frankie Martell Jr. on August 11, 1987; her parents,Dominique and Manuela Argain; her brothers, Joe, Bernard, Salvet and John and his wife Frances; sisters-in-law, Ruth Argain and Flora Gilbertson and husband Bernard Gilbertson. Marian is survived by her daughter, Kay Jackson and husband Don;daughter-in-law, Jeanne Schamblin; grandchildren, Wendy Taylor and husband Lance, Dr. Mark Schamblin and Jill Schamblin; step grandson, Jerry Jackson and wife Kelly; great grand children, Bailey, McKenna, Sawyer, Reese and Zac Taylor,Connor, Kathea, and Ryker Schamblin; step great grandchildren, Amber and Justin Jackson; her brother, Pete Argain and Maxine and many nieces, nephews,cousins and dear friends that have meant so much to her. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Holy Cross Section (9101 Kern Canyon Rd.) Monsignor Craig Harrison will officiate. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Saint Joseph's Church building fund or to your favorite charity. For additional information please contact Basham Funeral Care at 873-8200.
