Marsiano Lopez Luera, Sr.
April 20, 1926 - March 23, 2018
Marsiano Lopez Luera, Sr., went to be with his Lord. Dad passed away peacefully in his sleep in Canoga Park, CA. Marsiano was born in Brawley, CA. Marsiano moved to Bakersfield, CA where he met and married the love of his life, Jessie Aguilar. Marsiano and Jessie were married for 54 years and had 2 sons.
He entered the military at the age of 18. Served as a rear tail gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He also served with the 2nd Emergency Rescue Squadron 13th Air Corp. Marsiano was a member of the American Legion Post no. 26 and VFW 7216.
Marsiano was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad and Kern High School District.
Marsiano was a man with tremendous faith and love for his Lord. He would pray every day for his family.
Marsiano enjoyed his vegetable garden and working on his home. He loved to listen to music and dancing to swing music with his wife and socializing with his many friends. He enjoyed sitting in the backyard with his two dogs, Rocky and Lulu, who were always by his side. He was always ready to go out and eat or just go for a ride in Los Angeles with his sons and daughter-in-law.
Mariano is survived by sons, Marsiano, Jr., Robert and daughter-in-law Lorraine Luera. Sister Lupe Perez and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marsiano was preceded in death by his wife Jessie, parents, Ysabel and Louis Luera, 8 siblings and daughter-in-law, Martha Luera.
The family would like to especially thank his wonderful caregivers that treated him with love, kindness and respect. Cha Cha, Jethro, Albert, the entire staff at Primrose Senior Care and the Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills Hospice Team and Veteran's Adult Day Care Center Staff in North Hills, CA.
