Martha Nell Mavity

September 17, 1940 — February 22, 2021

Martha Nell Mavity was born in Spiro Oklahoma on September 17, 1940 to John and Lola Mae Jones and was called home to Heaven February 22, 2021 Martha worked at Kirschenmann Farms during peach season for many years. She was the office manager for Plainview Public Utility District for over 20 years and retired in June of 2002. Martha loved to cook, sharing her favorite recipes with her loved ones. Her chocolate pie, walnut pie and Christmas fudge will live on. Once Martha was no longer able to cook for us, she often found recipes in her many, many, many cookbooks, and requested they be made for her. As long as it wasn't a spring roll. She would often ask for orange chicken from Panda Express. Mom loved her perfume and body powder as long as it was White Diamonds. If she was given any other scent as a gift she would graciously accept it, thank you endlessly then put it away. Mom loved her lavender, from body wash to hand soap and most recently her diffuser, even though she had 10 other bottles of essential oils but only wanted the lavender. Martha was an avid reader often buying books for her kids and then her grandkids and most recent her great-grandkids. She has instilled the love of reading in most of us. Martha also enjoyed quilting with her mother-in-law Georgia. She enjoyed playing video poker on her iPad. She would not go to bed until she collected her points. Additionally Martha enjoyed shopping at Big Lots and Walmart with her sister Carol, often spending hours in Bakersfield. But the thing she loved above all was spending time with her family and watching her grandkids and great-grandkids grow. Martha also known as MeMe by her grandkids, was very generous, compassionate, loving and gave great advice or comfort when you needed it the most. Martha married George Mavity, the love of herse life on May 2, 1959. Together they built a simple yet very loving and wonderful life. They had two children. Daughter Deanna Black and son-in-law Jimmy and son Dondi Mavity. Martha had 1 grandson, Preston Black and wife Melissa and 4 granddaughters, Cassandra Soerjono and husband Johnatan, Shelby Mavity, Sydney Lace and husband John, and Baylee Mavity. MeMe has six great-grandkids with one on the way, due October 12. Brooklyn and Aiden Black, Logan, Rylee and Chloe Soerjono, John Lace AKA my baby.

She is preceded in death by her husband George, her parents John and Lola Mae Jones, her 3 brothers, Bill (and wife Earlene), John and Curtis Jones and two sisters, Bonnie Medlock and Carol Wittneben. She is survived by sister-in-laws, Linda Jane Jones, Linda Sue Jones, Peggy Welch, Barbara Mavity, Donna Dial, and Jenny Mavity. One brother-in-law John Mavity.
