Mary Iva Eddington February 26, 1923 - May 2, 2020
Mary Iva Eddington, 97, passed away on May 5, 2020 in Bakersfield, California. She was born on February 26, 1923 in Calm, Missouri to John and Doretta Wiggs.
Iva grew up in Calm, Missouri, and started working at the age of 15 to help her parents support the family. She worked as a care giver and at a dairy. At 19, she married the love of her life Samuel B. Eddington. She worked side by side with her husband for the remainder of her years. Together they owned Sam & Iva's Tops all Caf. They later went into the insurance industry and Iva was the only female agent in Bakersfield at that time. They worked together for 30 plus years until they retired. Theirs is the best love story and partnership you could ever imagine.
Iva was a person of quality. She was good, decent, kind and smart. She always kept a beautiful home. It was always a clean, comfortable refuge for her family. She always put her family first. She was a member of Calvary Bible Church for many years. Her Christianity was very important to her.
Through her battle with Alzheimer's Sam's precious care of Mom is something we will always admire. We take comfort knowing that she is now with her Lord and Savior.
Iva is preceded in Death by her parents, John and Doretta Wiggs and her siblings. She is survived by her loving husband of almost 78 years, Samuel B. Eddington; daughters, Diane Carlson and Jane Peterson; 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and nieces, Norma O'Neal and Gladys Looney.
You were the best of us Mom, we will be together again in Heaven, and until then, we will remember, love and treasure you all our days remainingThank you God for giving Iva to us for 97 years and thank you, mom for being a loving wife and mother and being beautiful inside and out.
