Mary Ellen Fimbres
Jan. 29, 1935 - Dec. 4, 2017
With the faith that we will be together again, we said goodbye with the blessing she always gave us, " Dios te bendiga ".
Mary Ellen Fernandez Fimbres was born in Tubac, AZ on Jan. 29, 1935. Her family moved often and finally settled in Arvin. She attended local schools and was in the first graduating class at Arvin High. She then completed beauty school and worked as a beautician in Bakersfield for several years.
Mom married our dad, Blas Ralph Fimbres in 1958 and settled into their home of 60 years on Bliss Street. They lovingly raised five children: Terry Page (Costa), Sylvia Fimbres Arambula (Ed), Ralph Fimbres Jr., Amanda Baeza, and Gabriel Fimbres. They enjoyed family gatherings, listening and singing to music, making menudo, and going out dancing, which they did so well.
There was always much love, laughter, and delicious food in our home. We especially loved Mom's tortillas, bean burritos, hot green chile, and tamales. She used her beautician skills to give us many hairstyles, volunteered at Our Lady of Guadalupe School, and attended all our games and events. She gave her love unconditionally and instilled in her children a love for God and family.
Mom's devotion continued for her grandchildren, who fondly remember Gramma picking them up from school when they were sick, then stopping at Wienerschnitzel to make them feel better. They also loved her cooking, experienced their first haircuts, and when they became adults she even took tequila shots with them. Her great-grandchildren got lots of kisses, too. She was so loved by them all. Mom's caring ways extended to our many friends and relatives, and those in need. She was always helping others any way she could.
Mom was a devout Catholic, our prayer warrior, who attended Mass daily for many years. Even during her saddest days, losing her daughter Amanda and son Ralph Jr., her faith never wavered. The love, strength, wisdom, generosity, humor and strong will of our beautiful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, comadre and friend will be truly missed. The many memories we have and the faith she instilled in all of us will keep her family strong.
Forever in our hearts
