Mateo “Matt” Hernandez was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

In 1989 he graduated from Arvin High School. He was baptized in the name of Jesus on June 10, 1990. Matt met Rosalie in May 2002 and were later married on November 9, 2002. He went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 20, 2021 at the age of 50.

He was born to Guillermo and Elizabeth Hernandez on July 20, 1971 in Bakersfield, California. He is preceded in death by his parents, Guillermo and Elizabeth Hernandez, and his brother Guillermo Hernandez, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Rosalie Melinda Hernandez; daughters, Eliana Elizabeth Hernandez and Kassandra Forsythe; grandsons, Chrostopher and Carter Forsythe, and son-in-law, Chris Forsythe II. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Inez and Ricardo Castillo; sister and bother-in-law Julia and Uriel Valencia; sister and brother-in-law Velma and Charles Graham; sister-in-law, Marie Hernandez; father and mother-in-law, Carlos and Mary Garcia; brother-in-laws, Alex and Chris Garcia, along with numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Matt will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
