Max Austin Mooney, along with his beloved wife, Desiree went home to be with
the Lord on March 16, 2025. Max was born November 11, 1994 in Bakersfield, Ca.
to Kathy Denise Luther and Mike Eric Mooney. Max was the youngest of 4 brothers,
joining Matt, Britt, and David, who loved him dearly.
Spending many years tagging along to his brothers’ games and practices, Max
developed his own love of sports at an early age. He played both football and baseball
at Highland High School before graduating in 2013 and was recently able to celebrate his
favorite team, the Eagles, winning the superbowl alongside his friends and family.
During his time at Highland, Max also met his soulmate and high school sweetheart,
Desiree Lewis Mooney. They were married in 2021 and spent several years living in
San Diego while Max attended school to become an electrician. The couple recently
moved back to Bakersfield with Max with Max working as an electrician for the local 428.
Aside from sports, Max also had a great love for the outdoors. Growing up, he spent
many summers camping in Balch Park. He enjoyed spending time fishing and going on
hikes. Des also joined him on many outdoor adventures including local hiking trips, the
Grand Canyon, and Zion National Park.
When they weren’t exploring nature, Mac and Des loved to spend time with their family
and friends. They touched the lives of so many people and each had a smile that could
light up a room.
