Melvin Craig Harris Sr., 54 entered his sleep on August 14th, 2020. He was a beloved husband, father, Papa, and friend many.
Melvin Craig Harris Sr. was born in Isola, Mississippi, to J.C. Harris and Lois Mc Laurin but grew up in Bakersfield.
In October 1989, he met Gertstine, fell in love and they married in 1990. His wife Gertstine later had three beautiful children, Melvin, Jr. Corneilus, and BreAnna.
Melvin enjoyed barbecuing, fishing, and most of all enjoyed attending church. He loved being surrounded by his loved ones and having a good time. He was known for his STRENGTH, as we all know he fought till the end. He was there every step of his children lives to guide and push them to greatness.
Melvin had many occupations throughout his life, (AMF Tuboscope oilfield, Janitorial services for Bakersfield City Schools, Service Technician Barber Jaguar, Honda, and Pontiac Dealerships). His last occupation was an Assistant office manager with The Pacific Companies.
Melvin is proceeded in death by his Mother Louis McLaurin and Father J.C. Harris, sisters Juanita Harris, Laura McLaurin and his brother Kenneth L. Harris.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sister Gertstine Harris, oldest son Melvin C Harris, Jr, his wife Courtney Harris, youngest son Corneilus K.O. Harris, his wife Sherisha Harris, and daughter BreAnna G Harris.His three grandchildren, Saharra C.L. Harris aka "Suggabugga" Melvin C. Harris III aka "Chubbalug" and Haven Harris aka "AngryBird". His two brothers James Calvin Harris and Willie Moffett, his two sisters Idella Harris, and Debroah Godbolt and Ella Johnson, father in law Eddie Johnson his sister in law Dorothy Jones, nephew Bryon Jones Jr. niece Porkchop, nephew Uzziayah Johnson aka "Big U" great niece Phylicia Haro aka LuLu, his favorite Uncle Minister Thomas Wilson and his good friends Ronnie and LouElla Copeland, and Larry Coleman. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
