Michael A. Mahaffey

Michael Mahaffey, 77, passed away on July 31, 2021, at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. He was born on Dec. 16, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan, to Stanley and Geraldine Mahaffey. Michael’s family relocated to Southern California in 1955. After graduation, he began working as an Aerospace Machinist for the next 40 years. In 1989, Michael moved to Bakersfield, where he met the love of his life, Pamela. Michael and Pam married in 1992 in Carmel, California. They were happily married for almost 30 years. Michael enjoyed working on cars, riding motorcycles, camping in their motorhome, traveling, listening to live music and dancing the night away with his wife and friends. Michael was a very happy person, always lived life to the fullest and made instant friends with everyone he would meet. Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela (Ryan) Mahaffey; daughter, Kay Evans; daughter, Melinda (Evans)Churchwell and son in law Jim; sister, Terry (Mahaffey) Furlong; grandchildren, Kailey Churchwell; Carson Churchwell, and Aiden Evans-Sibert. He also had many close friends that were very special to him. Michael was preceded in death by siblings; Daniel Mahaffey, James Mahaffey and Mary (Mahaffey) Harris and nephew; Jerry Harris. A memorial service will be held at Basham Funeral Care, 3312 Niles St, in Bakersfield, California, on August 4, 2021 at 10:00 am.
